On 6 July, the DeustoTech-INTERNET research unit belonging to DeustoTech – Deusto Institute of Technology (http://www.morelab.deusto.es) organized in the Ingenio Hall of the Faculty of Engineering of the Univesity of Deusto, Open Data Day Bilbao 2012. 28 people attended to such event belonging to different universities (UDEUSTO, EHU and UPM), technological centers (CIC-TOURGUNE, TECNALIA, VICOMTECH-IK4) and companies (EJIE and GNOSS).
The event started with two interesting talks given by Oscar Corcho (http://mayor2.dia.fi.upm.es/oeg-upm/index.php/es/teachers/11-ocorcho) from UPM, Madrid and Juan Sequeda (http://www.cs.utexas.edu/~jsequeda/) from the University of Texas, USA. Oscar Corcho gave a short tutorial on Linked Data, its principles and applicability. Juan Sequeda explored how to serialize in an scalable manner Linked Data on relational database management systems.
After the talks, the attendants constituted three work teams in order to give place to three new datasets: a) Urban waste in Bizkaia, b) Accessibility and points of interest in Basque cities and c) Basque culture data (Hedatuz) linkage to bibliographic resources VIAF. The results of all of these experiences were published at: http://opendataday.deusto.es
